Runco is the world’s best manufacturer of home theater projectors. If you go into a Hollywood producer’s home theater, you will likely see a Runco projector there. Take it from me, I know. My uncle is a screenwriter. This is a very nice projector. I have used one of these in my own theater and was very impressed with this model. It blows away what Runco’s competitors are offering for this price. The projector is VERY bright, actually brighter than a current model $13,000 Sim2 we recently tested side by side with a 610! The colors are vivid and accurate, and overall this is a projector to be proud of at this price point. For those of you that find yourself on the go, working in new locales or needing to make presentations, portability is a very attractive aspect of this projector. My previous Runco required an external controller/scaler and a set of cables from that to the projector. The cables cost $500 and the scaler was $2,000. So when you think of these costs, this CL-610 really is an amazing deal. But of course if you have or want to use an external scaler, you can. The lens throw is 1.37 to 1.82 which gives a lot of range to get the perfect placement for your installation. This is a better lens than is offered on the 410 or 420. We are overstocked and we want to sell a ton of projectors this month. This is your chance to buy a 610 for less than a dealer will even sell you a 420 for! With 1150 Lumens, the 610 is more than 35% brighter than a 420. Brightness is like horsepower—there is no such thing as too much, but too little can kill you. When a person is not satisfied with his projector, 90% of the time the reason is inadequate brightness. So go for the brightest unit that you can afford. And remember that you can’t compare the brightness specs very well from one brand to another. I have seen a Sony projector and a Runco projector that used the same bulb where Sony claimed their projector put out 2000 lumens and Runco claimed only 1000. This is like if they were to claim their 100 watt light bulb put out twice as much as GE’s. It’s ridiculous! Runco understates brightness relative to other manufacturers because they want your theater to look fantastic and they think it reflects badly on Runco if it does not. So do yourself a favor, do your theater right the first time and get a Runco. I get calls all the time from guys who built beautiful theater rooms, put a lot of money into the room, the seating, the gear, and then they put in a Sony or a Yamaha or a Sim2 projector and it’s not bright enough and they want to know if they can trade it in to me for a Runco. And sadly, the answer is no because I don’t want to sell those brands. I sell Runco’s because that’s what I use myself and they are the best. We sell all models of Runco projectors at great discounts. Runco prefers that nobody offer a Runco factory warranty on eBay, and in fact they sometimes get our ads cancelled on Ebay if we do offer that, which is a nuisance for us.
