Description
New Page 1 SPACEAGE WORLD SPACE AGE MOD POP EAMES PANTON SAARINEN ERA CALCULATOR Listed in Category: Consumer Electronics > Vintage Electronics > Other Vintage I bet some of you are asking....how far did the space age influence reach in terms of design influence??? Well...did you know that this design impacted calculators and I'll be featuring some of the rarest designs made in the 1960's and 70's shortly - and some of the famous designers who created them. First off is one of my favorite - often called a "Space Helmet" calculator. Both RCA and Garrett created calculators that had shields that rotated out of view to access the calculator. Most of these models also turned on the calculator when the shield was fully opened. Some models had a switch on the back to turn it on instead. There were several models of calculators that each had different functions. Here's a list of the models and functions: RCA Model 3C1010 Simple arithmetic functions RCA 1212 Simple arithmetic functions and A/B as well RCA 1414 Simple arithmetic functions and A/B as well, and 5 memory key locations Garrett Model 2020 Simple arithmetic functions Garrett Model CM20 Simple arithmetic functions and A/B as well Garrett Model CM25 Simple arithmetic functions and A/B as well, and 5 memory key locations Garrett Model CM35 Simple arithmetic functions and A/B as well The model in this auction is the beige RCA 1414. This one has a super rare chrome stand as well - which really sets this apart from all calculators at the time. Additional information appears below the thumbnail pictures... The most common color was almond or beige. Next, the yellow versions were more rare and are not seen as much today. The scarcest variety were in red or white. Each of these is shown below. And....although not included in the auction, here's a picture of what the cover of a manual looks like for one of these calculators: Happy Bidding... Check Out My Other Items!
