Description
DESCRIPTION: These are spring steel probes. The handles are 10 inches long and 1/2 or 3/4 inch in diameter. These handles are galvanized. These probes range from 46-48 inches long (around 4 ft.) and are 5/16 diameter spring steel. All probes have had one coat of primer and two coats of dark bronze Rust-Oleum Hammered paint. The paint is only used to help prevent rust. The handles have been drilled and the rods have been welded on both the top and bottom of the handles. The end of the handles are open. This is very important when probing for bottles. The sound of glass (when hit at the tip of the probe) travels to the handle and out both ends. This makes it easier to determine whether you are hitting glass, rocks or concrete. The tips have been slightly tapered and flattend at the very tip. Spring steel rods are hard to find and are expensive when found. We have found that this diameter (5/16) of rod works best in most situations. This is the most important tool for a bottle digger.  We can custom make just about any size probe or handle, so don't hesitate to ask. Please e-mail with any questions. I have been an active bottle digger for over 10 years and have seen some very unusual looking probes. I recently saw a probe made of PVC piping. That is when we got the idea to start making probes for people who enjoy the same hobbies and want dependable tools. We do not make fancy probes. We make probes that work and are made for people who enjoy digging. The probes are not only made for bottle digging, but many other hobbies and trades. These probes would also be perfect for metal detectorist looking for hut sites in Civil War camps. We also have 7ft. spring steel rods for privy digging that we plan to auction as well. Due to the size of these probes and being difficult to package, shipping is $13.00. Shipping time can fluctuate. We ususally ship these probes the same week they are paid for, but in some cases we maybe be running low and/or making probes. Metal detecting, detectors, privy digging, relic hunters, indian artifacts (artifact), shark teeth, arrowheads,  Scuba diving, digging tools, hut digging, fossil hunting, septic tank probes, plumbing, plumbing tool, Minelab, Fisher, Tesoro, Whites, and much, much more. Florida (Fla) (Fl), Georgia (Ga), Alabama (Ala) (Al), South Carolina (SC), Tennessee (TN), Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina (NC), Kentucky, Maine, St. Louis, New Orleans, Charleston, Savannah, John Ryan, bottles (bottle), tokens (token), pontil (pontiled), bitters, flask, ink wells, soda bottles, milk bottles, soda, medicine, ACL bottles, etc. Bottle digging has been such rewarding hobby for me and my friends. With times constantly changing, it is getting harder and harder to find places to dig. We strongly encourage getting land owners permission before digging. Go out and enjoy this hobby! Good luck! We are not responsible for any injury you may encounter while digging or using these probes.
