Description
You are bidding on a superb Tag McLaren T20 tuner which is still highly sought after and had an RRP £1099. I bought it to replace an Audiolab 8000T which is also for sale in another of my auctions. I have used this tuner very happily in my Naim system (NAC552 / NAP500 / B&W Nautilus 800) and am only selling because I have just bought a T32. This tuner still compares very favourably with the T32 though and is a superb piece of kit. I have found that I personally prefer the Tag McLaren and Audiolab tuners to the Naim ones, even though a Naim one would match my system perfectly. I prefer the sound of them and they also have many more useful facilities. There are a couple of issues with this tuner which I have never had a problem with, but I must point them out. The most important is that I think there is a loose connection inside the display. When I first got the tuner and switched it on, there was no display - just black. I gave it a couple of gentle knocks and the display came on, but it is a bit duller than I think it should be - I actually found this was preferable as the display on my Tag CDT20R transport was very bright. The display is still perfectly readable, but you need to be aware of this. It has never failed to go on since - it has always gone on, but you may have to give it a gentle knock to get it going at first (although I have moved it once and it came on fine) I have photographed the display to show you it does work and is perfectly readable - the camera actually makes it look duller than it is.Secondly, the tuning knob feels like it is rubbing slightly, although it works with no problems. Finally, there are a few marks on the top panel, although it feels perfectly smooth and like new. Please bear these points in mind. I have perhaps made more of an issue of them than they really are, but I have tried to be as honest as possible about this item.Remember, this is an absolutely superb sounding tuner - both pop and classical are extremely listenable - it even manages to do a good job of our local independent station and is far superior to other tuners I have tried. Good luck! Now all the boring bits. I would strongly prefer payment via bank transfer to my Halifax bank account or cheque for this as the Paypal fees are very high. Paypal is a last resort and I must ask you, therefore, to please e-mail me first if you make me an offer and can only pay by Paypal. If an offer is made without an accompanying message, I will assume you can pay by bank transfer or cheque. You are more than welcome to come and view the item and to come and collect in person - I'd strongly prefer this. However, if it needs to be sent, you are very welcome to organise your own courier as you can then choose which service you want etc. If none of this is possible, I could organise delivery to you via DHL for £20 including insurance. Overseas bidders are accepted ONLY if the following conditions can be made. I need to be very strict about this as I have had problems with overseas bidders, but I have also had some excellent transactions with foreign bidders who have met the following conditions :- 1 - You can speak reasonable English (I am about to relist an item which was won by an overseas bidder who did not speak English!!) 2 - You e-mail me firstly to let me know where you live and that you are a genuine bidder 3 - You organise your own courier to collect - I will, of course, supply the postcode to collect from. 4 - International bank transfer is strongly preferred to my bank account, but Paypal could be possible as long as I know5 - You have a good feedback rating. If you cannot meet all these conditions, please do not make any offers or bids - remember you need to organise your own courier
