This is the black model which I really prefer over the silver. I love this machine, but it's time to make room for another. IT HAS COBALT AMORPHOUS RECORD & PLAYBACK HEADS DUAL CAPSTAN DRIVE/FULL TENSION SERVO CONTROL BI-DIRECTIONAL RECORD & PLAYBACK. This machine is very clean. I have had it for a long long time. Mechanically, it rewinds and fast forwards fine. It plays very fine.  I just spent $$ on it with a local high-end repair shop called Sound Ideas. I have the report from them that it is in excellent condition. You will love this machine - it's one-of-a-kind.  I don't use it anymore I'm just going let it go. I will miss it.
