Up for your consideration is a Vintage JVC PC-5 Quintet Boom Box!!!!! This is a very sought after Boombox from the 1980’s. It has both antennas and all doors including its battery door. Or take a look at this recent auction click here #3. FEATURES:Tuner; cassette player; phono in; aux in; detachable speakers, bass boost. This Boom Box is Ultra Heavy at 27 pounds before packaging. Not a box for wimps or geek who have no muscles!!! CONDITION: See Attached Pictures!!! Good condition, but needs work as described below: The cassette does not work. Like all decks this old, the bands are bad, or will soon go bad with some hard usage, They need replacements most likely. Presently, when I stick a tape in the deck, the deck door is difficult to open and difficult to get the tape out if the spindle and the tape wheel get misalined. The speakers surround foam needs replacement. From what I have read, this is often the case with the PC-5. This is not surprising as the speakers are very small yet heavy duty speakers that pump a H@#@#L of a lot of volume for their size. Even if you buy a PC-5 with good speaker material, it is very likely they will rip apart relatively soon if you pump them up due to their age. Funny tho, the speakers presently sound pretty good at high volume levels witht he treb and bass at the neutual position. Thus there is no immedate hurry to get them fixed!!!! The unit will be usable as soon as it arrives!!!!!!! The cassette eject button lever snapped off. I still have it and it is a very clean break that can be epoxied back together as long as the epoxy is stronger then the plastic. Otherwise, you can smooth the stub out, paint a little silver on it and it should look fine. The stub actually works better and is easer to use then the full lever. The lower cover door has one of it hinges snap off. Clean break and no damage detectable. You cannot tell it is missing. The door still closes and stays in place. If you open the door, it will stay, but a little tug will make it come out in a natural way. This is not a bad thing as this is a very vulnerable door, and now it just comes out if you want it to. If you do some heavy trailing, just stick the door in you drawer till you come back. The top of the PC-5 has some finish damage.
